Fat Tire Bike & Appetite Enhancement Ride [15 Aug 2008|11:30am]

Every Thanksgiving morning, the Rubicon Brewery and other sponsors put out a free buffet and free beer at Sacramento's Towe Auto Museum. Then, after a few hours, everybody heads out into the Capitol, riding bicycles all the way. By some estimates crowds push 400.

Think Critical Mass with more free beer. And free food.

Be sure to check out the Facebook event for more info.

Petition for a venue [14 Apr 2006|08:51am]

Redding, California is desperate for a music scene. It has slowly been strangled in the last 5 years. Please help the people in Redding convice the city to allow us to have a venue and sign this petition!

John Spurr (former American Waste drummer and the guy who runs The Space for the most part), me and a handful of other people have recently put into motion attempts to open a new venue in the area. Indie, hardcore, punk... everything. A solid, rock venue. Something serious and professional that would have to be treated as so. Not that we couldn't still have fun, obviously. We're eager to get the ball rolling and certain steps have been taken in order to speed this thing along as best we can.

With that said, we've put together an online petition available here. Read the statement and sign the petition if you're interested in getting a serious, community-based venue up and running in our area. Imagine being able to see your favorite bands down the street instead of having to drive to the bay area or Sacramento in order to see them at their next tour stop. I don't know about you but that isn't always in the cards for me when you've got bills to pay and a shitty job to report to five or six days out of the week.

Any convincing we can give prospective Redding area organizations for helping us out will help. So, please, don't hesitate to sign or spread the word to anyone you can about this.

If you go to shows, have ever gone to shows, play in a band, want to play in band or look to do whatever you can to support music local and otherwise... SIGN THIS PETITION! We'll all benefit from it in the end if we play our cards right and reach the necessary parties.

Thanks for reading. Keep an eye out for articles related to this in the Synthesis at some point in the near future.

All ages and skill levels are welcome. Call 222-2006 with any questions.

There really isn't much along these lines that ever happens in Redding, so if you're at all interested in poetry, you should come out so these events keep going on.

Rock Band seeking Vocalist [21 Oct 2005|06:08pm]
Progressive Rock/ Experimental band seeking talented, open-minded vocalist.

No screaming. No growling. No roaring. We want a real vocalist with a mature voice, a lot of energy, and time to practice. A wide vocal range is a plus.

We want someone that's easy to get along with...We want to build a friendship within the band and not just an association.

We're looking for someone preferably between the ages of 16 - 25. It's not because we have anything against older musicians, it's just easier to connect with people around our age.

Our influences include(but are not limited to): Mars Volta, At the Drive-in, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, King Crimson, Decemberists, Beatles, Miles Davis, and Fugazi.

I know it's a weird mix but we're a very interesting, weird band. We want to sound unlike anybody else.

So if you're interested at all, what so ever, then contact me...don't be shy...

Goddammit [14 Jul 2005|02:30pm]

[ mood | annoyed ]

I'm heading down this weekend, tomorrow in fact, to get started with the move back to the good old north valley. I called today to finalize the appointment with the new landlord, and they rented the house out from under me. I won't live in Redding (although I will be working there), but if anyone knows of a decent 3 bedroom rental available in the Jackson Heights school district in Red Bluff I would be eternally grateful for a heads up.

WHAT THE. [04 Jul 2005|04:29pm]

[ mood | grr. ]

I just found out that STARBUCKS is adding FIVE MORE locations here in Redding. Do you KNOW how SICK that is? What is wrong with people? Don't you want to support local business? Don't you get that NONE of your money stays here? It all goes to the big corporation in Seattle. JUDY'S ESPRESSO HAS WAY BETTER COFFEE ANYWAY. STARBUCKS SUCKS.

Seriuosly folks, this is ridiculous. Stop your Starbucks patronage!

I HATE IT HERE [28 Jun 2005|01:02am]
[ mood | depressed ]

This Plane which i am currently residing tears large chunks out of my soul, Being alone is both a torture and a comfort, How i hate and love the loneliness that grips me. Sometimes i wish the blackness would just consume me, sometimes i wish for a member of the opposite sex who would actually understand and not want me just for breeding, sometimes i wish for death of myself of this town of this species of this world....ahh but i ramble- until next time hope for a quick and painless death
